From a rugged terrain where agriculture was scarce to where present Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes grow mighty, Borne of Fire plows ahead and defies the odds. "The Burn" earned its name after the annual blazes set upon its fields by early agricultural settlers. As a nod to its namesake, we set one final, commemorative burn to the land before our grapes took root. With smooth tannins the wine has flavors of plum, white pepper, and carpaccio. Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is deeply rooted in Napa Valley's wine legends, including those of native people who lived off the bountiful land and the legend of a magnificent stag who evaded hunters while leaping across the iconic palisades. These legends inspired founder Warren Winiarski to purchase 40 acres of land that he planted to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1970, establishing Stag's Leap Wine Cellars.
