Health & Wellness: Start training for the FRESH15 TODAY!

We believe anyone can run – it just takes a little determination and a lot of heart (and some decent running shoes!).

At FRESH, we are passionate about being the best, about serving our community and about giving back. Through the FRESH 15 – our 15K, 5K and kids 1K race coming up March 1 – we hope to accomplish each of these goals. We also want to help you (our community) become healthier.

If you have never ran before or have never even thought of running before, you CAN reach the finish line. I am not a professional runner (I have to keep my day job!), but I love running.  I truly believe that with a good training plan and a goal in sight, it is possible to complete a race. If you start training now, you will be ready for the 15k (roughly 9.3 miles) come race day. If you feel more comfortable starting with the 5k race (3.1 miles), that’s okay, too.

Over the next couple of weeks, I recommend starting out slow. Take your time and try to work your way up to running one or two miles at a time, at least three times a week. Depending on your fitness level, you may have to stop and walk, and that’s okay. Remember, no matter how slow you are, you’re still lapping everyone on the couch!

Do some research on training plans and check out for some great articles on how to get started. We also have some great resources on our website at FRESH15K, including links to training plans and tips on how to eat properly while training. I would also encourage you to invest in some quality running shoes and drink plenty of water.

In less than two months, you can be crossing the finish line at the inaugural FRESH 15 race! Set your goal today!
