I have taken great pleasure in gliding thru the new beer and wine aisle at FRESH. There are so many great choices that it was hard to decide where to start. But this odd little craft beer, called Dogfish Head Midas Touch Golden Elixir, caught my eye.
The story of Dogfish Head began in June of 1995 when they opened Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats, Delaware’s first brewpub. Not only was Dogfish Head Delaware’s first brewpub, it was the smallest commercial brewery in America. Things have changed a bit. They are now up to nearly 20 styles of beer, sold in more than 25 states!
Midas Touch Golden Elixir is a beverage based on the residue found on the drinking vessels in King Midas’ tomb. So you will be drinking a bit of history here. Their recipe highlights the known ingredients of barley, white Muscat grapes, honey and saffron. Somewhere between a beer, wine and mead, this smooth, dry ale will please with Chardonnay or I.P.A. drinker alike! Are you in, yet?
There is a good chance that you will enjoy every drop of this beer, but if you can spare a small amount you might enjoy this tasty dip.
2 (8 oz) ctns whipped cream cheese
1/3 cup Dogfish Head Midas Touch Beer
1 envelope spicy ranch dressing mix
6 oz Cahill’s Porter Cheese, shredded (Irish cheddar with Porter)
1 tsp Sriracha – optional
1/3 cup real bacon bits
Bring cream cheese to room temperature. In a large mixing bowl, add cream cheese, beer, sriracha and dressing mix. Blend until smooth. Stir in bacon bits and shredded cheese until fully incorporated. Chill in fridge for one hour and then serve!
