FRESH and Festive: Fireworks and Festive Food and Drink

Independence day is almost upon us! This day commemorating the declaration of our freedom from Great Britain is time and time again paired with fireworks and festive food & drinks! It’s party time when July 4th rolls around.

And we will be living it up at FRESH on July 4th as well. You don’t want to miss out on the 801 Grill Special. Our culinary team will treat your taste buds to some down home style BBQ. The Back Patio will be rocking with the Wesley Pruitt Band from 6:30pm-9:30pm. We will have some fun surprises for the kids to enjoy that night as well. And if you look just right, you will be able to see the glimmer of fireworks Hollytree.

And just to be sure that you are in the patriotic party mood here are some drink recipes to get a jump start on the holiday!

Mint Watermelon Cocktail
2 cups FRESH Watermelon Juice
1/4 cup FRESH Lemonade
1/4 cup simple syrup
A few mint leaves, roughly chopped (3 or 4 per glass)
3 oz vodka (optional)

In a shaker add your mint leaves and simple syrup. Muddle with the back of a wooden spoon for a few seconds. Add the watermelon juice, lemonade and vodka if you dare. Shake it like a Polaroid picture and pour over ice. Garnish with a sprig of mint and a small wedge of watermelon.

Coconut Banana Cooler
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup coconut milk
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1/4 cup skim milk
1 1/2 Tbs honey
2 tsp lime juice

Peel the frozen banana and cut into small chunks. Blend banana, coconut milk, yogurt, skim milk, honey and lime until smooth. If the drink is too thin, add ice and continue blending. If the drink is too thick, add more skim milk until it is the desired consistency. Immediately take outside and sit on porch to enjoy!

Blueberry Basil Lemonade Fizz
One handful of Tyler blueberries (around 5 per glass)
A few basil leaves (2 or 3 per glass)
One part FRESH Squeezed Lemonade
One part Vernors Ginger Soda

In a tall glass, add the blueberries and basil. Muddle with the back of a wooden spoon until the berries and basil are slightly bruised, but not pulverized. Add the lemonade and ginger soda. Stir and add a few cubes of ice. Drink and say “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh”.
