In the beginning, there was the Bundt cake.
Back in the ‘60s, a home baker baked a cake in a classic Bundt pan manufactured by Nordic Ware, a then little-known housewares company, and won top prize in a Pillsbury Bake-Off. Almost overnight, a nationwide craze was ignited for these ridged, ring-shaped cakes.
Today, Nordic Ware makes all kinds of high-performance bakeware, but its bread and butter remains its wonderful cake pans. The original Bundt cake pan was inspired by similar ceramic pans in Germany and other European countries, used to create moist, intricately shaped cakes.
Just in time for the holidays, we have brought in to our housewares department some classic Nordic Ware bakeware, including several unique designs.
- Fleur de lis _ Produces an elegant, crown-shaped cake, just different enough from the traditional Bundt cake to create interest on the table.
- Bundt tea cakes and candies pan _ Use for miniature cakes or candy molds; the pan includes several intricate designs, to make a real impact at the buffet.
- Bundt duet _ Create two half-sized cakes – great if you are making cakes for gifts or want several flavors for a party.
- Gift cakelette pan _ turns out miniature cakes in the shape of tiny presents, ready for decorating or to serve with just a dusting of powdered sugar.
Bakers love Nordic Ware because they are sturdy and long-lasting, and practically fool-proof; cakes baked in these pans just don’t stick, and they’re so moist and flavorful that you don’t need to frost them. The Nordic Ware will only be available in limited quantities, so stock up your kitchen now!
