Family Central: A Texas-Size Party

We hope you’ve been enjoying our transformation into FRESH, Texas, the past couple of weeks, in honor of our Taste of Texas festival. And if  you haven’t made it in yet – well, we’ve been saving the best for (almost) last. Today, Saturday, June 11, please join us for our FRESH Shindig, celebrating the last weekend of Taste of Texas – and throw down with some Texas-style food, music, and fun.

All day, of course, we’ll have special events, like Texas celebrity chef Lou Lambert cooking beef on his own grill between 3-5 p.m., and all kinds of samples from Texas companies. Bring the family – we’ll have plenty of things for kids to try and see!

But the party will really get going toward evening.

Dance off: Between 5:30 and 6:30, Tyler’s own Sal Landeros will be teaching country dance lessons out on our covered patio. Landeros, a former two-time national ballroom dance champion, has his own Tyler studio and regularly choreographs for events like the annual Dancing with the Tyler Stars fundraiser. He’ll have you scootin’ your boots in no time!

Cowboy up: Wear your best (or blingiest) cowboy gear and compete in our best-dressed cowboy and cowgirl contest. Dress to impress the judges, and you could take home a FRESH giftcard! The judging will take place at 6pm.

Listen up: The Austin alt-folk-progressive acoustic string band MilkDrive are award-winning musicians, but awards reveal nothing about the musical soul so palpable in the quartet’s sound: a textural, multi-layer mix of rhythms, tempos, flavors, improvisation; with fingers flying at “unbelievable” speed, original tunes that go beyond extraordinary and arrangements described as “impeccable.”MilkDrive will put on a show you won’t want to miss. And it’s free!
