Fruit is a great snack for kids, no doubt. But, let’s face it, some fruits are more portable than others with the ease of packaged, handheld snack foods. (Ever tried to let your kids eat watermelon in the family room? I rest my case.)
Here are two that are kid-approved:
Funky Monkey Freeze-Dried Fruit: My kids would eat these for the name alone. Even the flavor names are fun. (Bananamon is bananas and cinnamon; Carnaval Mix is banana, papaya, pineapple and apple.) But what really sells me on these is that they’re all-natural, made without any weird additives, preservatives or extra sugars. Funky Monkey snacks are made of organic fruit that’s freeze-dried, giving it a crunch that most kids will love. (Freeze-drying preserves more nutrients than found in other types of dried fruits, while removing most of the water, so each ounce of Funky Monkey is equivalent to three full servings of fruit.) And, for families that need special diets, they’re even gluten-free, are certified Kosher and are made in a facility that does not process peanuts or tree nuts.
Florida’s Natural Fruit-To-Go Nuggets: These chewy little fruit gummies, in strawberry and blueberry flavors, are made from real fruit and fruit juices; one serving is equal to one serving of fruit. They look kind of like jellybeans, so my kids think they’re eating candy! (Find them at FRESH in the candy aisle – more ammunition to convince your children they’re getting a candy treat.)
