As a musician, Tyler’s Patrick James is hard to categorize. He’s a little bit country, a little bit folk, a little bit rock n’ roll. Just take a look at some of the artists he lists as influences: Ray LaMontagne and U2. Johnny Cash and The Cure. Pearl Jam and Stevie Ray Vaughn. Toby Keith and John Mayer.
So when you show up to hear Patrick on our patio this weekend, you won’t quite know what you’re going to hear. And that’s the way this Mississippi-born singer-guitarist likes it. “A good song is a good song,” he says – no matter who sang it or wrote it, and no matter how old it is.
Sound like something you need to catch? Patrick will be performing from 6-9 pm tonight, April 16, on our patio. He’s part of our patio music series, where we bring talented local musicians to entertain you while you kick back with a coffee, gelato, or glass of wine from our ReFRESH bar, or even enjoy a meal from our 2Go sandwich and taco bar.
Here are some other artists to look forward to in April:
Logan & LJ – April 22 – 6-9 pm
Logan Strong and L.J. Johnson met in the fifth grade and have been best friends ever since. Now high school seniors, they’re also passionate musicians who perform as an acoustic duo all over their native East Texas. The guys do classic cover songs (Beatles, Cat Stevens and many folk artists) and more contemporary tunes, by artists such as Jason Mraz and Dallas Green. And listen closely for their original songs, too!
Lauren Alexander – April 29 – 6-9 pm
Singing publicly since age 6, Lauren has spent more than half of her life on stage. A promising guitarist and songwriter, Lauren has opened for Pat Green and performed with a long list of prominent Texas musicians, including Dan Seals, Asleep at the Wheel, Tommy Alverson, Morrison-Williams, Ed Burleson and Deryl Dodd. Still just a teen, Lauren’s a Texas-style singer to watch.
